Getting from Livingstone, Guatemala to Omoa, Honduras in a day seems complex . Especially as we have no maps or timetables
THE PROBLEM
Getting out of Livingstone, the only way is by boat
Finding a town with a migration office
Finding a minibus to the border
Changing money
Getting from the border to nearest point to Omoa, we are told it takes at least 2 buses
Getting into Omoa and finding a hostel
A local finishes off my fish lunch
THE REALITY
1. Guy tries to sell us something. Taking our refusal well he directs us to the boat
2. A taxi driver wants to take us to the border. When we say no he takes us to a place where minivans go straight to the border
3. We cant move because we are wedged in the back of the van behind 20 people
We are the only ones who need to go to migration. The driver drives to migration, takes our passports and gets them stamped for us
4. At the border we are besieged by money changers
5. Walk over to Honduras where a bus is waiting that takes us direct to Omoa
6. Get off the bus and a guy on a trike takes us directly to the hostel
7. Good friendly Roli makes us welcome and talks up the local attractions
