Dodging Hurricanes

Mexico at last and into Baja California. The further away you get from the border the more Mexican things get, until you get to the far south 900 miles away when some of the most expensive real estate in the whole of Mexico turns into little America. La Bufadora was fun. The sea rushes into a channel and then a cave. The pressure builds and then sends a torrent out through a hole in the top. It rises some 30m and soaks the spectators.

We knew this was hurricane season but thought they hit Mexico and Central America on the Caribbean side. Didn`t realise they crept up to hit BajaCalifornia. Hurricane Henretta hit La Paz, leaving us waiting in the desert for 3 hours for a bus that had been cancelled. Still, the petrol station was interesting and we where next to the only hotel for 100 miles. So the wait for the next bus wasn't too much of a hardship

Baja California is suffering the crazy development affecting the rest of the world but it has an added problem - very little water. The one decent size river is being drained by water lorries. Towns have fill up centers like this one where every sort of container is used to fill up with water
